Château La Freynelle - Bordeaux (France)

Château La Freynelle logo

The story of La Freynelle begins in 1789, when Jean Barthe chose the gently rolling valleys of Entre-Deux-Mers to plant his very first grapevines. Since then, many generations and changes later, the vineyards have spread across 80 hectares in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, where they benefit from a microclimate created by the Gironde Estuary. The soils are ideal for viticulture, consisting of clay and limestone, and are mainly located on south-facing slopes. Today, it is Veronique Barthe who has been managing the family estate for many years. Veronique is proud, as a woman, to have stood her ground for years in a challenging appellation like Bordeaux. Times are changing here as well, but when she began, she was a pioneer in a predominantly male-dominated wine world. She makes simple, affordable, yet incredibly delicious wines in a region where prices have since soared.

Beautiful pale golden colour with green reflections. Brilliant aromatic expression. Sauvignon provides citrus dominated notes while Muscadelle evokes more delicate notes of white flowers. Semillon provides a round mouthfeel and gives the finish more length. Refreshing yet with body.

Beautiful garnet red colour with purple reflections. The nose is very expressive with typical aromas of forest fruits and herbs. The mouth is also full of ripe fruit with nicely integrated tannins. The Merlot grape gives the wine a round mouthfeel and velvety properties while the Cabernet ensures power and structure. Dry and balanced aftertaste.
