2022 Portlandia Washington - Oregon Pinot Gris 0.75 Ltr. White
picture of

This seductively dry and crisp style boasts a beautiful, shiny, light yellow color. Lively and mineral aromas of lime, pear, and stone fruit. Later, more exotic notes of peach and green apple emerge. Refreshing character that is far from the classic Alsace style. The finish is inviting and surprisingly long.

Enjoy it as a delightful and lightly aromatic aperitif, but it's also excellent with various seafood dishes, vegetarian meals, light pasta dishes, and salads.

climate

Moderate warm climate with warm and dry summers and mild winters with limited precipitation. Willamette is almost entirely surrounded by mountains, providing protection against cold winds and moisture from the ocean. Its latitude is almost exactly the same as that of southern Burgundy, which ultimately led Oregon to become THE state of Pinot Noir (and not California)! Columbia Valley is located more than 100 km inland and is much drier with much more wind.

soil

62% Columbia Valley: A mix of sandy loam and more volcanic rocks. 38% Willamette Valley: Typical Jory soil (of volcanic origin) and more sandy clay soils.

vinification

During the coolness of the night, the grapes are harvested. They are then gently pressed and fermented separately by vineyard plot in stainless steel tanks. The fermentation is long and cold. Afterwards, the individual plots are blended again and the wine further ages for six months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
