2019 Ayama Classic Pinotage 0.75 Ltr. Red
picture of

The Ayama Pinotage 2013 is valued for its South African expression and local heritage. Ayama likes to produce a medium-bodied and accessible wine with light wood treatment, which reflects her confidence in the grape. Although ripe plums and cherries are prominent, the earthy undertones from its Burgundian heritage show too.

Delicious on its own or with poultry, game and red meat dishes.

climate

Mediterranean climate with moderate summers and cold, rainy winters. Rainfall of approximately 600 – 800 mm annually.

soil

Gravelly, well-drained soils, as well as Perderberg Mountain sandstone.

vinification

For 75% of the duration of alcoholic fermentation, juice is pumped over the skin cap for colour and flavour extraction. Thirty percent of the wine is matured in new to third-fill small oak barrels for six months.
