picture of

2024 was a difficult year in Bordeaux: wet and cool, with severe mildew and low yields. The year is primarily characterized as fresh, light, and lower in alcohol. This works out favorably for the white wines. White: lively and crisp, with citrus, white peach, boxwood, and some spiciness. The Sémillon provides a creamy texture, the oak a subtle toast. The finish is long and mineral.

White: oysters, scallops, grilled sea bass, sole meunière, asparagus, fresh goat cheese or lobster with beurre blanc.

climate

The climate in the Pessac-Léognan region lies just south of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Garonne. It has a temperate maritime climate with mild winters, warm summers, and abundant rainfall. The vast pine forest of the Landes protects the vineyards from the wind and humidity of the Atlantic Ocean. The nearby Garonne keeps the temperature more consistent. On the gravel hills of Carbonnieux, with clay and limestone in the subsoil, rainwater drains away quickly and the soil retains heat. This helps the grapes ripen well.

soil

Subsoil The estate is situated in Léognan on deep gravel hills (graves) of quartz and pebbles, on an underlying layer of clay and limestone. The gravel retains heat and ensures good drainage. The clay and limestone provide freshness and tension.

vinification

White: approximately 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Sémillon. The wine ferments in oak barrels and ages for approximately 10 months on the fine lees (sur lie, with bâtonnage), with a limited proportion of new wood.
