Incredibly dark and deep color. The nose is dominated by dark berries with hints of blueberries, black cherries, and violets. Noble hints of coffee, cedarwood, leather, toast, and vanilla are beautifully integrated with its intense and deep flavor. A sensational revelation on the palate that transitions into an impressive and long finish. This easily rivals big names from the Médoc that cost you much more.
This top wine deserves equally matched meat dishes. Chateaubriand, Filet Pur Rossini, Venison fillet, Lamb rack, or other savory and refined meat preparations.
- climate
-
In Sonoma, the climate varies more from west to east than from north to south. Interestingly, it's warmer in the north than in the south because in the south, the San Pablo Bay and an opening in the coastal mountain range provide cooling. Grapes mainly come from the eastern, slightly warmer areas.
- soil
-
Sonoma County: Great variation in soil. Vineyards with limestone and gravel in the top layer and more rocky soils of volcanic origin.
- vinification
-
Grapes are carefully selected and handpicked. The individual vineyards are fermented separately and then aged in a blend of 25% new French oak and 75% used barrels for 16 months. Afterwards, the wine is blended and bottled.
