More information about 'Torcilacqua'

Matteo Mariotti, a man immersed in experience and passion, took over the reins of the esteemed Torcilacqua estate in June 2018, after many years working within the family business. Born in 1979, with a loving family consisting of a wife and two daughters, he made the determined decision to pursue his childhood dream and dedicate himself to the art of winemaking. This long-cherished passion, which first emerged in his youth, now finally comes to life in the refined Torcilacqua wines.

Located in the picturesque Badia a Passignano, nestled deep in the heart of Chianti Classico, the estate offers breathtaking views over the surrounding vineyards and forests. With a majestic position on the southern and southwestern slopes of the hill, opposite the centuries-old abbey, the estate stretches out at an average altitude of 350 meters above sea level. This idyllic setting, combined with favorable microclimatic conditions and the balanced texture of the soil, provides the perfect environment for producing grapes of impeccable quality—essential for crafting wines with impressive structure.

The vineyards, with an average age of 20 years, are cultivated according to traditional pruning methods such as Guyot and Cordon de Royat, with an average planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. Currently, noble grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown, each vinified separately to produce wines of exceptional distinction. With a deep-rooted dedication to craftsmanship and an unwavering pursuit of perfection, these wines represent the embodiment of timeless elegance and excellence.
