BODEGAS URBINA - Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón (Spain)
The family vineyard in Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón boasts over 150 years of history and is one of Rioja's most established wineries. Its story begins in 1870, when Salvador Urbina produced his first wines there. Some of these original plots still form the foundation of the estate today—a rare testament to generational continuity. Through Ciriaco and Paquita, and later Pedro and Jesús Ángel, the estate continued to grow. In 1986, a new cellar was built and stainless steel tanks were introduced, allowing tradition and modern techniques to harmoniously blend. Today, the fourth generation leads the estate, where academic knowledge and deep-rooted winemaking experience complement each other, fostering a forward-looking vision. Urbina can be counted among the small group of classic-traditional Rioja producers, comparable to the large historic houses such as López de Heredia – Viña Tondonia: winemakers who hold on to time, terroir and authenticity, and consciously opt for elegance, long maturation and a style that effortlessly stands the test of time.
